Structure for Promoting the Acquisition of ISO 14001 Certification
At Nihon Parkerizing, we have established a framework for our “Safety, Health, and Environmental Management system.” Under the president and the officer in charge, we have assigned a responsible person at each hierarchical level (overall administrator, divisional administrator, and chief administrator) and implemented initiatives to solve safety, health, and environmental issues.
As the division that operates the administrative organization for the Central Safety, Health, and Environment Committee and conducts internal audits, the Environment & Safety Department plays a role in promoting safety, health, and environmental management.
ISO14001 Certification
Nihon Parkerizing has acquired ISO14001 certification, an international environmental management system standard to strengthen environmental management activities and ensure transparency. In 1997, we became the first member of the Japan Metal Heat Treatment Association to acquire the certification, beginning to implement initiatives ahead of others. In the 2000s, companies were required to address environmental issues in their business activities as part of their responsibilities. We have begun operating a company-wide management system and have expanded the scope of ISO 14001 certification to the entire company.
We will continue to aim to be "a company that contributes to the preservation of the global environment" by implementing various improvement activities, such as strengthening our corporate structure, developing environmentally friendly products, saving energy and resources, and reducing waste, under our environmental management system based on ISO14001.
Central Safety, Health, and Environment Committee
“The Central Safety, Health, and Environment Committee” is held twice as a management review under ISO 14001. The Committee is the decision-making forum for critical issues related to safety, health, and the environment in our company. The committee discusses the status of activities and various issues related to safety, health, and the environment throughout the company based on labor-management cooperation.
The committee formulates the company’s overall safety, health, and environmental policy for each fiscal year. The policy is reflected in each division and office, and the policies of each business site and activity are implemented. “The Workplace Safety, Health, and Environment Meetings” are held monthly at all business sites under the Occupational Safety and Health Act. The meetings investigate and deliberate measures to prevent occupational accidents, health problems, and health risks, environmental and other issues. We inform all employees at our business sites of the deliberations and promote specific measures.

Nihon Parkerizing provides environmental education for new employees as basic training and for mid-career employees as competency enhancement. For employees who work in positions that require specialized skills, we support the acquisition of qualifications and higher-level skills through external programs. We also provide other necessary training depending on the job duties involved.
